How we verify giveaways
Three checks. A giveaway passes all of them or it is not listed.
The checks
1. The entry page works
We open the entry page. It has to load and it has to accept an entry. A page that is broken, closed, or sends you somewhere unrelated fails.
2. The prize is stated
The sponsor has to say what you can win. "Great prizes" is not a prize. The value on our card is the value the sponsor gives. We do not round it up.
3. The sponsor is named
Someone has to be responsible for picking a winner and delivering the prize. If the entry page does not say who is running the giveaway, it fails.
What the Verified date means
Every card carries a date. It is the date of our most recent review of the list. Each time we publish the list we go through what is on it, and a giveaway that no longer passes is taken off before the list goes out.
The date tells you how recent our check is. It does not tell you when the giveaway ends. The sponsor's official rules do.
What gets a listing removed
- The giveaway has ended.
- The entry page has stopped working.
- The prize or the terms have changed from what we listed.
- The entry page starts asking for payment.
What we never do
- We never charge you, and we do not list giveaways that charge to enter.
- We never submit an entry for you. We fill in the form. You read it and send it.
- We never ask for a card number, a bank account or a Social Security number. You do not need any of them to enter a giveaway.
What we cannot tell you
We check the giveaway, not the result. We do not run the drawings. We do not know your odds and we do not know who wins. Read the sponsor's official rules before you enter. A prize can also be taxable, and the sponsor will tell you if that applies.
If we got one wrong
If a listing does not match what you found on the entry page, write to [email protected]. We check every report.
